RE-PURPOSE THOSE OLD BOOKS
Quick and Easy DIY trick with supplies you probably have in your own home!
Do you have a bookcase of old books that you have no use for anymore? Rather than donating them (or letting them collect dust), why not re-purpose them and use them as decoration? Or gift them as a nice holiday gift by adding a stamped phrase.
I had 3 books that I decided I was going to try this on. I looked for some that were different sizes and had different page colors, to add some dimension. Simply, remove the cover from the book, and a few pages to get to the title page, or a blank page. I was planning on using some white or cream colored paint to paint the sides, but I realized I liked the look that the natural spine had.
If you don’t like the natural look, add some white paint to the sides and cover page. To make it more personal, you can stamp some phrases to the binding. Next Christmas I am going to play around with some holiday phrases and give them out as gifts, tied up with a piece of twine. It’s a very simple, cost-efficient DIY trick that adds a personalized touch to your home.
